Make a " Mini Musallah" with your Munchkin.

Hello everyone. Since Muslims are observing Ramadhan, I thought it would be a really cool idea to come up with some crafts inspired by the Holy Month. So! I have come up with some ideas, and today I have brought you *points above* the " Musallah!" A Musallah is another term for the Prayer Mat that Muslims pray on five times a day.

It's a little cute card craft you can make with little ones in a really short space of time. Read on if you'd like to make your very own Mini Musallah with your Munchkin!

1. Firstly, fold a piece of card in half, lengthways, and cut along the fold.

2. Then fold it in half again so you have an A5 sized card. This will be the basis of your prayer mat.

3. Next, paint your prayer mat any colour you wish to. Try to use bright, cheery colours!

4. After this, you will need to decorate your prayer mat. You can use paint, metallic pens, and even embellishments like ribbon, table confetti and stick on pearls.

5. Now, you need to use a hole puncher to make 5 or 6 holes along the top and bottom of your prayer mat.

6. Next, cut strips of ribbon and loop through a hole to tie both sides of the card together.

7. Finally, repeat until you have done this with all the holes. Trim the ribbon so they are all the same size. Voila! these are your 'tassels.'

I decorated the pink Musallah with pearl embellishments.

As you can see below, the green prayer mat I decorated by painting on red flowers and swirls, and then finishing off with gold spots. With the blue prayer mat, I was more adventurous! I dipped a star shaped biscuit nozzle in gold paint, and printed that all over. Then I finished by sticking on some star confetti.

There are SO many things you can use to decorate a musallah with. Ribbons, glitter, feathers, thread, diamonds...the list truly is endless. The rule is to definitely make sure it's sparkly. Seek inspo online or have a rummage through your prayer mats at home :)

I hope you have fun making your mini prayer mats! Keep your eyes peeled for more creative activities I will be posting :)
