Eid Preps in 7 Steps: How to make a Ka'bah Kube gift box.

Salaams and hello all. Remember when I said that I've had a few craft ideas I'll be sharing? Well, here's another one, as promised. I'm going to share with you a little Eid idea that you can start making from now :) It is the 'Ka'bah Kube gift box' which you can make at home in no time. :)

You will need:
Black card
(you can always use any coloured card and colour it in black, so it's fine if you don't have black card.)
Gold pen/ribbon/foil (can also be used interchangeably.)
Scissors
Tape
Glue.

1. First, draw a cube net. Then draw tabs onto your faces. I always draw extra tabs because I can never remember which tabs go where. Then you can easily cut off any excess tabs later on. Cut the net out.

2. Then, score on the lines, as this will make the folding easier.

 3. After this, start sticking the tabs and the faces together to form your cube. Use sticky tape for reinforcement!

 4. Now, this is the fun part. Add in any messages, sparkles, some money or chocolates into your gift box. Another thoughtful token to put into the box would be homemade Eid biscuits or chunks of brownie? I like to add in tissue paper first because it creates some lovely padding. Seal up the lid and you're ready to decorate.

5. Next, glue a line all the way around at the top of the cube, ready for your ribbon. Wrap your ribbon all the way around and snip off where necessary.

 6. With some gold foil, cut out a rectangular door and stick onto the left side of a face. Then draw on the details with a gold pen.

 7. Finally, repeat with all faces and voila! You have your very own Ka'bah Kube gift box.

It really doesn't matter if you can see dried glue or bits of tape, because it just adds to that hand made, rustic look. After all...it'll be the children who are making the craft...right? *wink*

You can use this gift box in so many different ways. It can simply be an Eid decoration, you can use it to gift biscuits to someone, you can fill it with sweets and give to children at Eid Prayer, you can also put the traditional 'Eidi' (money gifted on Eid) inside!
