15 ways to transform your bathroom into a sumptuous spa.

Hello all :)  Who says you need to travel all the way to Bali to enjoy some much-needed self-care? With the following ideas, you can transform your bathroom into a luxurious spa. Read on if you'd like to create your very own wellness-wonderland in the comfort of your home...

1.Buy lotions and potions which come in brown bottles, as these will instantly make your toiletries look sophisticated.

2. Use stone-coloured accessories such as hand-wash dispensers and tumblers for that sophisticated, natural look.

3. Keep a natural material basket/dish (wicker, seagrass/coconut shell) to store fancy-shmancy soaps.

4. Place a hand-cream and a perfume next to the sink to create the ''shmazz'' and ''ooh-la-la'' of a luxury hotel bathroom.

5. Instead of hanging towels, roll them up and place in a basket in a pyramid formation for #spafeels.

6. Since spas are all about relaxation, consider your colour palette. Choose tiles, paint and furniture in natural colours to keep the atmosphere calm. I'd use little accents of bright colours (teal, grass green, rusty-orange so you're able to strike a balance of calm and refreshing!

7. Place fluffy bath mats by the sink and bath for a cosy look and to keep those toes warm!

8. Place a reed diffuser on the windowsill to keep the air fresh. You can try pot pourri too, but that tends to collect dust.

9. Place your loo rolls in a wicker/seagrass basket.

10. Keep a candle holder/burner on your bath tub, ready to burn some essential oils in.

11. Bunch a trio of pillar candles together. Use a variety of heights because this looks more effective.

12. Use clear (plain or ribbed) sweet jars to contain and display essentials like cotton buds, cotton wool, grip pins and makeup removing pads. This looks very sophisticated, but it is so practical too!

13. Scatter some seashells and pebbles in a display dish.

14. Use some natural wall art. Maybe frame some pebbles or a starfish? Or have a print of the on-trend palm leaves. If you'd like to be ultra-cool, a witty quote is the way to go.

15. Finally, use some floristry, whether this is real or artificial. Spas tend to use delicate, pretty flowers like orchids, cherry blossoms and frangipani for a gentle look. If you're not into flowers, you can easily buy indoor plants from Homeware departments. A single stem placed in the centre of a table or a windowsill creates a sleek image.

So, there we have it! The ideas that have been bouncing around in my mind :) The great thing is, there are SO many ways you can personalise your spa, that you really are spoilt for choice. Keep playing around with colours and accessories until you are truly excited about your final look!

See you next time!
