1.Fairy lights giving everything that cosy, twinkly feel.
2. Scented candles flickering.
3. The smell of freshly baked brownies.
4. Treading through fresh snow.
5. Christmas songs jingling at the Highcross
6. The smell of freshly fried doughnuts in the
cold air.
7. Rose gold ornaments.
8. Going for a country drive and seeing
decorated houses.
9. Oversized jumpers.
10. Steam rising from roast dinner.
11. Baking chocolate brownies.
12. Magic in the air.
13. Snuggling up on the sofa.
14. Seeing trees dusted with snow.
15. Going to watch the pantomime at De Montfort
Hall. Oh yes I do!
16. The reflection of diamonds sparkling when
you walk past Swarovski.
17. Going into the Yankee Candle shop and
smelling all the Christmas scented candles.
18. Glittery Christmas cards.
19. Seeing the person smile when they open my
Secret Santa.
20. Going to see the display at Town Hall
Square.
21. Watching people laughing at the park as
they’re having a snowball fight.
22. Watching people all glitzed up and laughing
merrily as they walk into posh hotels for parties.
23. Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.
24. The smell of gingerbread men in bakeries.
25. Star
ornaments shimmering in shop windows.
26. Tartan blankets splayed across home décor setups.
27. Friends nestling a cup of hot chocolate
with gloved hands and giggling.
28. Little children queueing up to see Santa at
Highcross.
29. Watching Harry Potter with my bro for the
millionth time.
30. Going to the Curve in the evening to watch
a play.
31. Choosing pretty gift-wrap from shops.
32. Wrapping presents for loved ones.
33. Writing a message on a tag.
34. Snowball fights!
35. Snowflakes twirling in the air as though descended
from the air.
36. Seeing Santa flying in his sleigh at the
Haymarket.
37. The crisp morning air and bright sunlight
hitting my face as I walk down Granby Street.
38. Eating crisps and chocolates throughout the
holidays.
39. Laughing with colleagues at a Christmas
party!
40. Children waddling through snow.
41. My family and I cooking Christmas dinner
together.
42. Giggling as Destiny’s Child sing their Christmas
song. What?!
43. Picking out presents for people.
44. Thinking about how I am going to decorate
my house with decorations and lights and candles!
45. People being kinder to each other and being
happier.
46. Helping my schoolchildren make Christmas
crafts and partying with them.
47. Random strangers wishing each other a ‘Merry
Christmas!’
48. Random strangers complaining about the
winter weather, but secretly proud of the British tradition.
49. Sarcastically laughing as the shops COMPLETELY
commodify Christmas. ‘You NEED this £1000 necklace for your girlfriend.’
50. The
City Rooms’ windows glammed up.
