Wedding Belles.

Hello all :) Here's some descriptive writing inspired by my sister's wedding.

Twinkling lights and sparkling material had adorned the walls of that home. Each garland of flowers a pretty decoration and a witness to all of the festivities. The silky syrup from the mithai and bakhlava flowed as smoothly as the silky sweet conversation the girls were having.

"Salaam! Ahhh!! Look at her! So pretty!" Tears gathering like precious diamonds in the corners of their eyes. A splash of duas and trickle of love running down their faces.

Gulab Jaamuns were squashed against cellophane, like a toddlers' fat cheeks pressed against a window, thinking "Argghh! Let me out of here." Chunks of pink, green and orange sprinkled with silver foil and lime coloured pistachios, sprinkled with icing sugar and desiccated coconut stood to attention. Tables laden with trays of baked goodies neighbours and friends had brought.

If you looked upward, red and gold organza drapes were swathed to the chandelier, delicate cream petals scattered in between. Fairy lights sparkled like glow worms at the window. Thousands of guiding stars at night, a cheery signal as if to say "We are celebrating!"

Cerise and orange bangles chinked happily across that girl's hands, gently brushing past the henna. An entire collection of flowers, paisleys and leaves covered the bride's hands as she wistfully gazed at the intricate patterns. Her girls broke out into giggles.

"Ooooh….! How dark will the henna stain be? That's how much he loves you!" Toothy grins and a burst of melodious giggling rang through the air again. A twinge of nerves, laughter and joy filled the girl's heart. Just two more days and her entire life would shift. A big change and a new routine, a new home.

All her friends looked at her longingly, well-wishers and silent prayers hoping for a beautiful and prosperous future. They smiled, knowing she would be just fine.

A kiss upon her forehead was gifted to her by Mum, tender lips sealing a prayer for love and lots of protection. All eyes on her, a gentle sigh of relief and hushed adoration. She was so beautiful mashaAllah (Praise to Allah).

I hope you enjoyed reading this piece!
