25 Things I am Grateful for Recently :)

Image
1. My brother's Engagement Party and attending family weddings in general. I enjoy weddings because I like getting dressed up, the glamorous aesthetics of the whole day, the food,  and of course seeing loved ones take the next step in their life :) 2. Seeing my neice's cheeky smile, her little hands trying to touch everything, and her starting to crawl.  3. Giving my prayer room a makeover! From choosing colours and accessories to sanding and painting, it really has been satisfying to see days of my manual labour (with some help from Dad) all come together.  4. Catching up with friends I haven't seen in a while.  5. Walks in the park. Fresh air and being in nature :)  6. Physical self-care in the form of Hijaama (Wet Cupping.) 7. My parents for the kind and beautiful souls they are.  8. A clean house that smells of Febreeze.  9. Opening a window to fresh air in the middle of a heatwave.  10. Drinking Kashmiri (Pink) chai and Masala chai *sigh*.   11. Visiting my aunt and he

Things I said 'Alhamdulillah' for in March 2022! .

Salaams and hello you :) And whilst we're at it, Ramadhan Mubarak! Ramadhan is the perfect time to reflect on what we are grateful for, so without further ado, below is a list I've compiled of things that I am grateful for in my life at the moment .  Alhamdulillah, or Subhan'Allah is an expression Muslims use, of thankfulness toward ' Allah', or God .  1. My parents. God bless them so much. The fact that they are alive, well, take care of me, and are always there for me. 2. Drinking hot Indian tea with cassava chips dusted with chilli powder and watching the world go by. 3. Spending time with my neice and those squidgy toes! Sometimes life is too short to wait for an occasion, and I'm so glad I busted out a balloon arch just because.  4. Playing bowling and nearly winning. Quality time spent with family bonding and having life's lighter moments is always a win.  5. My health improving. I wasn't too well, but alhamdulillah I am on the road to getting b

My reading wishlist from: Urban Outfitters

Image
I usually go browsing in Urban Outfitters, because I like the style of their products and the chilled atmosphere. This wishlist is a collection of books I'd like to read. milk and honey by Rupi Kaur I've read "The Sun and her Flowers" by Rupi Kaur, and her poems deal with immigration, self- love, and femininity. I'm going to be honest and say I didn't fully understand all her poems  and felt some of them leaving me underwhelmed.  It took a long time for me to get used to such short poems after reading long sonnets by Shakespeare and such, but would still like to read this first collection.  Everyday Self-Care Because wellbeing, mental health awareness and self-care are such prominent topics, and as an adult, I need to educate myself on how to take care of myself! I'm intrigued to explore deeper forms of self-care, such as setting boundaries and inner strength. Spark Joy by Marie Kondo I watch Marie Kondo's series on Netflix about tidying up (yes I en

How to have a Harry Potter themed birthday.

Image
HP was the first novel which got me hooked onto reading and will always be a firm favourite. The starry castle, the wizards flying high to the mermaids swimming deep down in The Lake have remained with me since. So it was only fitting that I have a HP themed birthday tea!  Read on to be mesmerised by my magical mischief... Prop ideas.  My backdrop was going to be a brick wall effect prop I had made previously. I was going to use this to create the King's Cross Station/entering Diagon Alley look, but the material wouldn't stay up :( Never mind!  What's great about it is that it is really quick to make, because all you need is a sheet of white cotton, with some red or brown rectangles printed on in paint.  I used the witch's hat, Harry's glasses and broomstick as the main props on my table. You could use both the broomstick and the witch's hat as photo props too for your friends! I think using these instead of card props is way more fun and authentic.  In the midd

Spring Cleaning 2021! My B&M and Home Bargains haul.

Image
Hello everyone!  In today's post, I will be doing a Spring 2021 Home Bargains  and  B&M  haul. (Can you honestly go into those places without picking up a scented candle or two, and a fun smelling disinfectant?) I suppose it’s the sign of adulthood when you get super-satisfied buying… cleaning products ha! I am super house-proud and have a minimalist mindset. My motto is that if anything is out of or cluttering up the place, I either a) tidy it or b) bin it. Organising, cleaning and decluttering is therapeutic for my anxiety as  it keeps my mind occupied from whatever I may be overthinking about. It also allows me to use pent up energy, whilst bringing order and sense to my environment. So without further ado, I'm going to get started with my product list. 1 .  ‘Sparkle’ sink tidy. This is a grey, plastic tidy in a super sleek design, with ‘Sparkle’ printed in silver calligraphy on the front. It has two handles either side so you can hold it easily. It’s big enough to

7 Whizzing, Wonderful, World Book Day Ideas !

Image
Elmer, Winnie the Witch and The Twits, to name but a few are going to take over this Thursday, the 4th of March 2021.  You guessed it, World Book Day is around the corner! I'm going to share with you some crafts  I've made which you can easily do at home with your children.  These crafts are aimed for children aged 4-7, and can be adapted for older children simply by changing the book you base the craft on. You can also adjust the level of support or preparation you offer, and alter the complexity of the end product to meet the child's ability. Scroll down to see the ideas.  1. Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.  Idea: Design a Zoo using a box, pictures of animals, and different materials to make elements like grass, water, straw, stones, fences or tyres.  Learning opportunities:  This will help with children's imagination, creativity, their fine motor skills when they're ripping and cutting paper, learning animal names, and also allows them to identify the different habitat

Crumbs Cafe Review.

Image
Perched on the corner of Sparkenhoe St, Crumbs Cafe was a delight to visit. The cafe from a design point of view has a "shack" sort of vibe to it, with coffee bean sacks lining the walls (so you can see exactly where they have sourced their coffee from) and brown, card style menus.  There's a selection of breakfasts, from a full English complete with tomatoes and mushrooms to lighter options such as an omelette filled in a chapatti roll if you're not feeling quite so peckish! Love your carbs? Fill yourself up with their Jacket Potatoes which come with some really yummy fillings- they even offer tandoori or peri peri chicken.  Although the menu looks like it doesn't have much food available, they have bakery style (chicken, meat and vegetarian) paninis, pastries, wraps, rolls and sandwiches at their counter ready to buy. I was truly spoilt for choice! I ordered chicken pastries but was disappointed with them- there was hardly any chicken in them *sad face*.  You c
