10 upcycled Christmas crafts to make with children.

I can't believe Christmas, the most magical and sparkly time of the year, is only 9 days away! With festive cheer and time spent with loved ones, we spend so much time in our decorated homes. But making our homes looking delightful, cosy and inviting need not be expensive.  The best crafts and decorations are those full of heart. I've brought to you the following 10 ideas that will transform old tatty material into a thing of charm. Read on to find out how you can make your very own Christmas crafts! :) *All ideas are genuinely my own, however I do not own any of the images.

1.       Flatsheets. Transform it into a cosy advent calendar by sewing on some pockets! Chocolate coins, or little chocolate figures make for a delightful treat just before bedtime!

2. Buttons. These are great little bits to make a handmade card out of. Or, stitch these onto a homemade jumper for that extra detail.

3. Empty tissue rolls. Add coloured paper and use felt tips for finer details to transform a toilet roll into any Christmas character. Kitchen rolls are the perfect shape for a Nutcracker shape.

4. Wrapping paper. Cut up into strips to make your own colourful paper chain or a doll chain from it. Hang onto your fireplace to introduce some child like charm.

5. Washing Powder boxes. Wrap with coloured paper and decorate with a ribbon to make a child’s gift box!

6. Socks. Roll up into a ball, and cover with brown fabric. Stitch on some white/creamy material at the top to make the custard. Embellish with red beads and some green foliage to create your very own Christmas pudding. Or, decorate in different colours to make homemade baubles.

7. Old fabric. Cut up into triangles (and even letters if you’re feeling brave) and sew onto string to make your own ‘Merry Christmas’ bunting to hang up.

8. Sweet wrappers. Cut into strips and use either as a ribbon to decorate pretty parcels, or to even glam up your Christmas tree! A good excuse to empty any box of chocolates.

9. Old novels. Rip out the pages and cut into letters to decorate a Christmas card for a traditional look. You could also use a template of a Christmas tree, or a cityscape to cut out a pretty pattern.

10. Milk cartons. Wrap with coloured paper/paint brightly and use pens to add detail to make a classic village scene. Dip pine cones in green paint to make mini Christmas trees.

Have a lovely time making these crafts with your little ones. If you found any of them helpful, then leave a comment below! Have a Merry Christmas :) xxx
